60-Second Meditation

Good Morning, Friends. It's Wellness Wednesday, and if you're feeling overwhelmed and are seeking a moment of peace, take a little time for yourself. Meditation is an effective practice that can immediately reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, pain -- and it's something that you can do in as little as 60 seconds.

Earlier this year, I learned about this quick (and effective) practice from my wellness partners from Miraval Resorts: 60-second breathing. Close your eyes, and place your hands on the tops of your thighs, palms up. Take a big inhale through your nose for 5 counts, hold it, then exhale through your nose for 8-10 counts. Notice the rise and fall of your chest and abdomen. Pay attention to your natural breathing.

If you have a little more time (5-minutes tops!), continue and visualize your thoughts as little clouds drifting away. Remind yourself that there's nothing to do or fix. Then transition your thoughts to bring gratitude to your day.
